Argument For The Legality Of Abortion

Abortion, widely known as one of our nation’s largest controversies. Numerous individuals perceive abortion as immoral and even consider it to be murder. Abortion is defined as “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus” (Webster, 2015). Divided into two different belief groups. Pro-choice, in which I stand for, is the belief that a woman has the right to her own body, and has the choice whether or not she would want to keep the baby. Pro-life, is a belief group that opposes the legality of abortion. What pro-life activist don’t understand is that even if abortion becomes illegal; woman; due to unfortunate circumstance, unable to support herself, will still have an unsafe induced abortion. …show more content…
Making abortion illegal is unfair to both, the parent of that child and the child itself. According to the U.S national library of medicine, “Unsafe abortion accounts for 70,000 maternal deaths each year and causes a further 5 million women to suffer temporary or permanent disability. Maternal mortality ratios (number of maternal deaths per 100,000 live births due to complications of unsafe abortion are higher in regions with restricted abortion laws than in regions with no or few restrictions on access to safe and legal abortion”(E, 2009). It is proven, in states with restrictions on abortion, more woman die due to unsafe abortion. Meanwhile, pro-lifers support restrictions on legal abortion, which in reality is hypocritical, since more women are dying due to unsafe abortion, which is why I believe that our nation should be
