Abortion, widely known as one of our nation’s largest controversies. Numerous individuals perceive abortion as immoral and even consider it to be murder. Abortion is defined as “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus” (Webster, 2015). Divided into two different belief groups. Pro-choice, in which I stand for, is the belief that a woman has the right to her own body, and has the choice whether or not she would want to keep the baby. Pro-life, is a belief group that opposes the legality of abortion. What pro-life activist don’t understand is that even if abortion becomes illegal; woman; due to unfortunate circumstance, unable to support herself, will still have an unsafe induced abortion. …show more content…
Making abortion illegal is unfair to both, the parent of that child and the child itself. According to the U.S national library of medicine, “Unsafe abortion accounts for 70,000 maternal deaths each year and causes a further 5 million women to suffer temporary or permanent disability. Maternal mortality ratios (number of maternal deaths per 100,000 live births due to complications of unsafe abortion are higher in regions with restricted abortion laws than in regions with no or few restrictions on access to safe and legal abortion”(E, 2009). It is proven, in states with restrictions on abortion, more woman die due to unsafe abortion. Meanwhile, pro-lifers support restrictions on legal abortion, which in reality is hypocritical, since more women are dying due to unsafe abortion, which is why I believe that our nation should be

The world is full of countless conflicts that sometimes tend to overtake people’s lives. One of these major conflicts is Pro-Life versus Pro-Choice. Pro-Life is a term given to the view that abortion should be illegal and that a baby should never be killed. Pro-Choice is the view that women should be able to do whatever they want to their body and that it is their decision whether or not they want to have an abortion or keep the baby. Abortion should be illegal because it is the killing of an innocent human being, it can cause emotional distress in many women, and it is morally wrong.…

“Teen girls, whose bodies are not yet ready for childbirth, are five times more likely to die. Not only do 70,000 girls ages 15-19 die each year from pregnancy and childbirth, but the babies that do survive have a 60% higher chance of dying as well”( Paula Glennon). There are many conditions that can happen to a woman before and during pregnancy that can be detrimental to her and the fetus. In fact, Ectopic pregnancy (tubal pregnancy) occurs at a rate of 19.7 cases per 1,000 pregnancies in North America and is a leading cause of maternal mortality in the first trimester (Josie L Tenure). There are hundreds of other complications that can arise during pregnancy.…

A common argument for people who argue that abortion should not be legal is that they think abortion is a murder. Although there are laws about when women are able to do an abortion, some people still think it is a murder if they do an abortion early in the pregnancy since they refer to it as a life. In addition, the people who think that abortion should be illegal say that the unborn babies are human and have a right to life, and when pregnant women make an abortion they take away the right to life for the baby. Another argument that is used by the people who are against abortion is how it is morally wrong to do an abortion, it is similar to the previous arguments since the people who are against abortion think that it is morally wrong to not give birth to a child that a woman is pregnant with and not give it a life that it has the right to. Although there are many arguments about how abortion should not be legal, there are also arguments about why abortion should be legal.…

I will argue that a fetus cannot survive on it’s own and that a women should have free choice to her own body. an article I read titled Perspectives on Abortion, the author brings up a pro-choice author named Boonin, who argued that “...the fetus is not yet a person and does not have a moral value yet…if a fetus is considered a person, then a zygote or a woman’s egg is a person as well; and therefore are entitled to human rights.” (Lopez, pg. 515). Boonin is trying to argue that if a fetus has rights, then so does every egg in a women’s body. In the article titled Abortion: A Pro-Choice Perspective, Robert Blake argues that, “We see the fetus as a potential life to continued development is subordinate to the mother’s right to privacy, which includes the right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy.” (Blake, pg.…
