In opposition to Marijuana, it is declared that the legalization of marijuana would cause many more uncontrollable DUI situations because even though alcohol has the same problem, cannabis does not have a rapid roadside test that every police officer is able to administer. The only test is a sobriety test that the police officer must be trained to administer and not all of them know how to do. This has lead to an increase in accidents in places where the drug is legal due to the short term effects of cannabis. Another pressing concern is child exposure to the drug. The exposure rate has increased 27% since the legalization of the drug. Both second hand smoke and poorly labeled edible packages could lead to ingestion by minors and this drug does have negative impacts on cognitive functions in people’s whose brains are not fully developed. There is a theory that once euthanasia is legalized that the act of ending one’s life would become normalized and spiral out of control and this is called the Slippery Slope Argument. In many European countries that have legalized euthanasia, there is concern that it is now becoming more common for less grave prognoses. This could lead to unreasonable deaths which would be unethical. Additionally, many people believe that due to medical advancements there are plenty of medications to help patients through their illness and die naturally without too much pain. There are constantly new experimental procedures that patients can and should take part in as these lead to medical advancements that may not occur if people decided to participate in euthanasia instead of medial trials. Lastly, the 14th amendment does not include the right to die as a right people have. Without the right to die, euthanasia would not be legal.
