Personal Narrative: Panama Republic Of Panama

I remember back when I was a child more than 30 something years ago, my mother talking about John Fitzgerald Kennedy and how good of a President he was and how people around the world loved him. You would think that my mother was an American but no! Back then when she was stating these words she lived in her native country; Panama Republic of Panama. I learned in an early age to see the US as something heavenly and magical. John F. Kennedy helped Panama a lot with humanitarian relief back in the 1960’s. He was dearly loved in Panama in Central America and also all around the World.
Little did I know my mother and I would eventually become US citizens! I am proud to have dual citizenship. I am an American and a Panamanian. I can safely say it was our destiny to belong to this Country like many other foreigners that would eventually become citizens of the US. American Presidents were idolized all around the Globe! Two-thirds of the US Senate, including Republicans, agreed with him. And overnight, a major cause of resentment and tension against the United States in Latin America evaporated. The Panamanians have paid a high prize ever since. It is not the same having the US as a big brother rather than a Father. I am glad that relations between the two countries still exist. You cannot miss the American legacy in Panama today (Quora, n.d).
I learned early on how the US and Americans affected the country that I lived in when I was a child. I happened to see more US Politics on TV rather than be more in tune with Panama Politics. The US was the ruler of the World. It almost seemed like the President of the US was the President of the World. If the rest of the World felt this way; I cannot imagine the feeling of the people living in the US in those days in regards to Politics. American Politics was the core of the Nation and all around the
