The Learning Period

Decent Essays
This learning period, I am extremely proud of learning a handful of songs from the musical “Hamilton”. “Hamilton” is now one of my favorite musicals and one day I hope to travel back to New York and see it on Broadway. I enjoy the story and all the characters because the music is the best and loving history is a big factor to enjoy this musical. I throughly enjoy every song in the musical and every performer is extremely talented. The concept I learned this learning period was to sing while standing up, walking around, and to perform gestures to get used to the motion. Furthermore, this is action is good to practice so it can translate to when I perform on a stage or with other performers. Another concept I learned and practiced this learning period was to sing with a small group and then keep adding people when you feel confident with the number of people. …show more content…
I am proud of being about eighty percent done with my personal song, “Buy Me Happiness”. I added a second part of my song about the opportunity that Excel gives me by providing funds to be able to go to classes of my choosing and to buy art supplies. Just a few more tweaks to fix in the song until it is the final product. I need to practice singing while playing on my ukulele and piano because it can be difficult performing both without making mistakes. I have a standard skill in multitasking my vocal and instrument skills, so working on improving this task is extremely beneficial. I enjoyed this year of my music class because it allowed me to explore every corner of my creativity and allowed me to think inside and outside the

Different moments of our lives change us and shape us into the man or woman whom one day we will become. One moment that changed me was when I got my first instrument. Getting my first instrument was exciting, yet challenging at the same time. When I told my mom that I wanted to start playing music, I didn’t realize how hard it can truly be. I didn’t think of how much patience and time I would need to put into my practicing.…

I look down and see my mother smiling proudly at me, and I am taken back to where it all began. Rumour has it that I have been singing since the day I was born. In truth, my first experience with vocal music came at the age of two. I had listened to a song on TV, and I couldn’t help but fall in love with it, singing it over and over. My parents knew from that day that I had musical potential, and they encouraged me…

Ever since I can remember I have been preoccupied with music. As a child I remember obsessing over my dad's CD collection and spending lengthy afternoons just listening to them with him. My home was never silent there was always music playing in the living room, the sounds of drums being banged on or guitar amps booming from the basement. If you ask my mother she might tell you this was bothersome but if you ask me it was perfect.…

As I am sitting in the cold, frigid, choir room, I am focused on my choir director, Mr. DeBore, who is wearing khaki dress pants with a light blue dress shirt, and a blue and tan designed tie. Behind him is a bright green wall covered with posters of cheat-sheets with different subject matter we cover in class and see in our sheet music every day. As he begins to start warm ups, like we do every morning, a thought comes to his mind and as usual, he trails off to a totally different topic. It was getting close to ACTs and student testing; it was my freshman year, and I haven’t taken these tests before so I was freaking out, as I usually do about tests and I needed to do good on it.…

The heat from the stage lights, the watchful gazes of the audience, and the sweat dripping off of our faces as we struggle to remember our lines, these sensations of being on stage are what caused the performing arts to become not only an activity, but also a passion and an unexpected source of personal growth. Through my experiences in drama and music I have been able to discover my own meaning of fulfillment and define who the person behind my appearance truly is. My passion in the performing arts started when I was a young child first learning to play the violin. Picking up the violin at the age of 6, I became stuck on one of the most basic songs for almost a whole year. At that time no one believed that I could play the violin, my teacher thought that I was too hyperactive and even my mom attempted to convince me to quit.…

My Guitar Early one Christmas morning in 1976 towards the end of Elvis’s life, career, I was gifted my very first acoustic guitar. Maybe it was because I was born in Tupelo, Mississippi some thirty-six years after Elvis Presley, that made me suited to play and sing with a guitar. Or perhaps because I was born on the same day as the legendary Johnny Cash, exactly thirty- nine years later, to the day, that I would inherit the intense desire to play, write, and sing with a guitar. After an hour of trying to make that little acoustic guitar play and sound the way it did on both of their records, I was unsuccessful. It was then, that something both self- inflicted, and self-destructive would act as judge and jury, delivering a sentence that…

    The Learning Curve Theory

Learning Curves The learning curve, also referred to as the experience curve, is a simplistic, yet powerful, estimating technique which has become an essential concept/tool used for strategic planning within project management (Kerzner, 2013; Lieberman, 1987; Linton & Walsh, 2013). Bailey and Gupta (1999) suggested that the learning curve should probably be called the “forecasting curve” because it is primarily used to forecast the future expenditure of project resources (as cited in McKee & McKee, 2013). This paper will briefly explain the core components of a learning curve analysis, as well as discuss how it can be utilized in project management.…

Lifelong learning is extremely important, especially in the medical field. Lifelong learning is a process of seeking, retaining, and applying information learned, that will continue throughout our lives here on earth. As nurses, learning must continue so that we are able to maintain the knowledge we have but also be able to grow and learn new things because the environment that we work in, is forever changing and we must be able to change with it. We could only imagine how healthcare would be later on in the future if nurses and doctors only relied on the knowledge they obtained during nursing and medical school. Learning does not stop once school is over with, but it is continuous and required way beyond graduation.…

I have always loved to sing, but I do not remember when I first discovered my ability. Maybe it when was when I first saw The Phantom of the Opera as a child, maybe it was when I was in my booster seat listening to the Annie cassette tape, or maybe it was when my grandfather and I were watching The Wizard of Oz on TCM. I do not know, but what I do know is that this talent has left a lasting impression on my life and most importantly, my heart. From what I recall, the first time I sang in public was in my Catholic school’s Advent program for all of the parents.…
