As I observed the learning center for tutoring was like a preparation for real life teaching. I felt like I was observing future educators by learning from their mistakes and acquiring new teaching skills that I can use for the future. I as well observed that the learning center had an educational environment feeling. The environment was friendly and also very bright and colorful with inspiring quotes that helped the students achieve what they had to do. I felt welcomed when I was allowed to observe the learning center. Through my observations and experience I learned that teaching is very important in a child’s …show more content…
This class is for students who are experienced swimmers and for swimmers who want to get better when swimming. As I observed this class I was able to see the connection between the swimmers and their coach. The class was divided into five sections that ranged from swimmers who needed practice to swimmers that already were experts. There were drills and sets that the coach gave in order for them to do. I liked how the coach was very engaging and paid attention to every student. This class was a small class with only eight swimmers so it was easier for the teacher to individually communicate and correct any mistakes that were committed. I also observed how this class consisted of lots of repetition which reminded me of one of the theorist we talked during class, William James. My of the strokes they had to do consisted of doing the same motions over and over in order to learn the skill and be able to perform the skill whenever they had a skills exam. I liked how their coach was very precise whenever she wanted a stroke to be at its best. I liked how she was a great example of what an educator should be which was push her students to strive and achieve something they cannot do. She never let any of her students give up but rather make them practice and practice. Through this experience and my observations I learned that teaching requires that passion and in it …show more content…
This class was a little different than the intermediate one because many of the swimmers in this class had never had experience with swimming so it was pretty hard for them. The beginner’s class also consisted of 20 students for which the coach was very patient and understanding because of how large this class was. Through my observation I saw that many of the students as well were assigned with drills and sets that they had to practice and practice in order to achieve their swimming goals. I observed how the coach also put more attention to them and was always positive when teaching a new skill. The coach always made sure that everyone was aware with what they were doing and as well corrected if she saw any mistakes. What I also liked about this class was that whenever their coach was helping someone else one of the students who knew a skill was nice enough to help another student. This in general showed that the class was a good learning environment because everyone contributed to the education of someone else. From this class I learned that patience and time is required when teaching. The coach was a good example of having patience when teaching a larger group of people, especially when different skills had to be mastered at different levels. I believe that having patience and time is a big key to become a future
