Every day I set up tasks for Heritage Enactus students to complete. Understanding the different ways that one is able to make these tasks meaningful and fulfilling has changed my outlook on how I have approached delineating certain tasks. I had been micromanaging certain projects to ensure they were being ran correctly. By taking a step back and allowing individuals to do their own work they’re not only more productive, but also more inspired and motivated. This is incredibly important considering the work is strictly volunteer and does not provide many of the normal factors to prevent dissatisfaction such as money. Regarding servant style leadership, this is the leadership characteristic that speaks to myself as an individual. Being able to see the different strategies he has put in place to effectively translate this to his employees has been insightful. Every day he spends time walking around the hospital and seeing if he can possibly help out someone out.
