Of the above mentioned arguments, I find the law breaker paradox the strongest argument to diffuse the impulsion that gun control laws are futile. When you hear, “only law abiding citizens follow the law”, your initial response is to agree with that statement, but it isn’t until you reflect on this statement that you come to realize that this argument is barren of reason and offers nothing in regards to the strategy to decrease the number of deaths due to firearm use. If we have this mentality of the purpose of laws, why keep any law? Those who have created the law, do so knowing that it may or may not be followed, but the purpose is to set rules that if followed can yield the best condition for a society.
