Analyzing Art Work by Different Artists from Different Periods Art is very important to people especially when it represents spirituality. It adds a strong connection between the artist and the viewers on something they both agree on. Art in the early Renaissance was mostly about spirituality, but as time passes by, artists paid less attention to spirituality, and they started adding other themes to art. I intend to show that The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, represents the scene of The Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples. Da Vinci has depicted the horror in the 12 disciples’ faces when Jesus announced that one of them would betray him.…

The Last Supper is a still life sculpture made by Ken and Julia Yonetani using groundwater salt from the Murray River. The image of the large banquet is chipped, moulded and cut from a 1.5 tonnes of salt into a three-dimensional “still life” masterpiece with the dimensions of 9 metres in length, 0.72 metres in width and 1.22 metres in height. The sculpture is of a nine-metre table laid with a variety of food on top, such as fruit and vegetables, lobster and fish and various shaped glasses and cups. The items and table are extremely detailed; this makes the still life sculpture realistic and life-like. The sculpture investigates the topic of consumption, comfort, admiration and humanity.…

They were created in return for a commission by the Fraternity of Immaculate Conception on April 25th, 1483. In addition, these two pieces of art show a transitional phase in the most extreme ways. Both the movie and the painting show something in the process of changing or moving on from one thing to another. In the Last Supper, it shows Jesus before he moves on to make the ultimate sacrifice; the mood shows it. In the Last…

Igor Babailov, a Russian born American artist once said, “Artists with the lack of proper education and experience of working from life will copy whatever is visible on the photograph, without knowing what's underneath. As a result, instead of creating the in-depth and full of character portrait, they draw a mask with no soul.” Without question Leonardo Da Vinci captured souls. His 15th Century contributions remain supreme whether they be in art, science, mathematics, engineering, writing or music. Such was Leonardo’s ability he enjoyed recognition and support as he created artworks such as the Mona Lisa and the less famous, Ginevra de benci.…

One of the most loved paintings in the world is a mystery. So much about this painting is unknown, almost making it more attractive. The attentive look of the young girl in the painting makes the viewer feel as if he or she has caught the girl’s attention, and she is turning to look at them. Her parted lips scream mystery and her pearl earring is pure and beautiful. The girl is a mystery who has inspired both a novel and a movie speculating on her true story.…

he Torment of Saint Anthony is the earliest known painting by Michelangelo, painted after an engraving by Martin Schongauer when he was only 12 or 13 years old.[1] It is currently in the permanent collection of the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas.[1][2] It shows the common medieval subject, included in the Golden Legend and other sources, of Saint Anthony being assailed in the desert by demons, whose temptations he resisted; the Temptation of St Anthony (or "Trial") is the more common name of the subject. But this composition shows a later episode where St Anthony, normally flown about the desert supported by angels, was ambushed in mid-air by devils.[3] The painting was previously attributed to the workshop of Domenico Ghirlandaio,…

Art is both a language and a form of communication. The language of art can be elaborated in a multitude of ways. These methods include the content, process, or themes of an artwork. The works of art entitled “The Sneak” by Gale Godwin and “I’M (NOT) OKAY by L. Rose Wertz, which I found in the University Gallery, Fulton Hall 109, are prime examples of art being conveyed as its own language through their content.…

Since the Renaissance period, many things have changed, from the way we act and the way we dress, but one thing that has not changed is our appreciation for art. Art, then and now, captures the worries and problems that are going on in the World around us. Michelangelo’s “The Last Judgement” (1536-1541), has many scenes within the painting that show the people’s facial expressions, mostly of worry, for whether or not they will be sent to Heaven or Hell. Michelangelo (1475-1564) just may as well be one of the greatest Italian artists of the Renaissance period, creating some of the most creative and inspiring artwork during his lifetime. Looking at all of his paintings and sculptures, one can definitely tell that his artwork is very detailed…

Despite our personal views, paintings, sculptures, places, and churches reflect worldview and civic identity. In the “Last Supper,” Leonardo shows monumental simplicity (Bondanella and Musa 48). His composition is masterful. He strikes the contrast of the disciples’ attitudes as counter posed to that of Christ. Instead of choosing the portrayal of Judas as customary in the iconographic tradition, he portrayed the moment of highest tension in the New Testament as in the bible, “One of you that eat with me will betray me."…
