Nowadays billions of dollars are being spent for the care of pets, either with veterinary care, supplies, or just with treats. Bilger’s claims are “our love with our pets has gotten out of control” and it shows with the amount that is being spent on their animals. To some extent it is true, people will go spend more about the pets then themselves because they believe they are part of the family. Pets aren’t easy to take care of and can be expensive. In 1996, only 8 billion dollars was being spent on pets. In 2003, 19 billion was being spent, with the addition of another 28 billion for medical care, supplies and treats. …show more content…
He is a pit-bull named Rambo, and is a lot of work. About every 3 weeks I spend $25 dollars on his food, $10 for his shampoo, about $45 for his shots. He brings me a lot of joy, every morning before I leave I tell him goodbye and before I get home from school he is waiting for me at the gate for me to come in. every year on the New Years , I buy him a giant bone from Target to celebrate his birthday, which costs about $20. Every now and then I buy him some toys such as balls or stuffed animals so he could rip up or just bury it somewhere around the house. I don’t buy him clothes because he just likes to roll around the mud anyway and it bothers him, makes him feel constricted so he just bites it till he is able to rip it off. Once a week I have to clean his mess so I have to spend money on bags, and give him a bath which usually ends up with me having to buy new clothes because he likes to go hug to stop me from shooting him with the water and it eventually rips when he jumps up and scratches it with his claws. I do say “ I love you” to my dog because when I had to choose between a family of 7 puppies, he actually chose me and was the smallest of the bunch, now he’s about 155 pounds and almost as tall as me standing

According to Peter Fenton, writer and loving pet owner, author of “Vets Are Too Expensive, and it’s Putting Pets at Risk”, veterinarians intend to find out how much profit they can make off of the love owners have for their pets. Fenton argues veterinarians are using the love of pet owners for their own benefit, while leaving those in questionable financial situations without any veterinary care at all. Fenton delivers a convincing argument supported with data and emotional appeals, but his failure to adequately consider opposing facts and credible opinion calls into question not only his conclusion, but the logic of his argument.…

For many activists, it is hard to understand how inhumane it is to keep some animals as pets. “Animals,” as one activist says it, “are not here for our happiness.” While there is a substantial difference in how we raise animals (within terms of stray, wild, and domestic animals), there is no say in the animals life on how they should be treated. Finally, he seems to indirectly state some of the obvious logic that we are superior and it is only the way of life that we eat meat and research on animals to make life a little easier. It is possible that we can cure cancer or find a way to stop infestations, or even cause breeding to increase, which could increase the amount food…

What my dog has taught me Humans are basically social animals, and in learning to coexist more peacefully, our pets could teach us a thing or two. Humans are sometimes arrogant enough to believe that our lives matter more than others, but in owning a dog it 's clear to see why it doesn 't. I know some people consider their pets as a part of their families. I strongly agree with that stance towards the dog I have in my home. Having been a dog owner since the age of nine, I can claim that a lot of growing and maturing goes on during that timeframe. Pets have this ability to teach people things that even humans cannot.…
