During the last couple of months Stevie had caught herself staring down on her left hand more and more. After sixteen years she was still wearing her engagement ring, even if the wedding had never taken place as planned. There hadn't been a wedding to begin with, at least not one she had any part in.
Lindsey had promised her to come back to her. He had said that as soon as Will was turning sixteen, he'd leave his wife. So far, nothing had happened. July had come and gone, and still she was here on her own.
Closing her eyes she sighed, shaking her head at herself. She should have known that there was no happily ever after, for them. For Lindsey, obviously he had found his happiness with his family, his wife and children. But for her...

As they went downstairs, Stevie's thoughts once more went to Lindsey, to the promises he had made throughout the years. Mentally shaking her head, she decided to just forget about their happy ending. It wasn't meant to be. He had been having enough time, to live up to his promise. He had been having six months in which he could have talked to her at least, telling her what was going on. However, he hadn't. As always circumstances had gotten in their way, keeping them from finally being together.
She decided then and there that she wouldn't wait for him anymore. She had done so for the last sixteen and a half years. If Lindsey Buckingham couldn't keep his promises, then she wouldn't keep hers either. She had given up too much by now. Partly because she had promised Lindsey to wait, and before, back when her career had been way more important, always thinking she had time enough to settle down.
Now that time was up, since long ago. But time was up for Lindsey as well. They might have a deal, but if he thought he could show up in a year from now, reminding her about it, she was determined to tell him he could forget about that damn
