I. Thesis Statement
In this 2017 celebration of The Laramie Project, the death of a gay man that is put in question was effectively presented with a minimalist slanted set, a set of a few chairs, and a projector which allowed the audience to be immersed in the performance and understand the emotions and intensity that exude from this production. III. Plot The Laramie Project was continuous in structure and linear in chronology which Basically means that the play had events which were connected to each other in strict, chronological, cause-effect continuity, and in which dramatic experience attempted to convey a lifelike progression of experience through time. In this production, the inciting incident is when Matthew Shepard is murdered for being murdered for being gay. There were quite a lot of major incidents of conflict in this performance because the entire play is comprised of conflicts to whether or not Matthew was killed due to his sexuality or if his killers felt any remorse. The climactic incident in this the moment in which Matthew Shepard's father appeared in the courtroom and begged the court not to put the death penalty on the table, as it was not what his son would’ve wanted and he wanted his son's kindness to leave an impact even after his death. The denouement of this play was the moment in which the school erected a bench in memory of Matthew and his mother sat down and spoke of Matthew and how she has used his death to help millions across the country struggling with their …show more content…
Despite all this their costuming still allowed the story to go so much deeper than it normally would; be in normal circumstances. IX. Convention There was no real use of convention within the play, except for the fact that many individuals were different characters, but they did not change characters in front of us. It was the very much representational type of acting as each individual became their character and lived their life.
X. Acting and Directing Regarding the acting, it is very clear that some characters relied on acting from the inside such as Aaron Mckinney it is very clear that the actor playing this character decided the best way to connect with the character would be to evoke the same emotions that the person was feeling at this time.
However, there were other actors who didn't seem as though they were emotionally connected with their character as much and this can be due to the fact that some of the characters didn't have really emotionally characters or parts but because of this many decided to connect with their character on a skill-based fashion.
