Betrayal In Mary Maloney's The Lamb To The Slaughter

In the Lamb to the Slaughter, I learned that in an instant, women can go from peaceful to violent killer. Mary Maloney, was the typical housewife, a wife that loves her husband, cooks, cleans, and her world revolved around him. Mary, at six months pregnant, seems to be harmless. Looks can be very deceiving. I was quite surprised. Mary completely snapped, after her husband disclose what is to be believe that he was leaving her. Humans are capable of abruptly changing in an instant. Mary’s world was shattered, like a piece of glass piercing her with a deep wound. She was in disbelief of what was happening. It’s not wished upon anybody. I feel it wakes up a total different person in you, that you never knew existed. Unfortunately, it causes hate, shock, sadness, and confusion. It causes denial, same thing Mary was going through. Betrayal can consume the innermost soul of any person. The detectives came to Mrs. Maloney house after she called them in her husband death. The detectives couldn’t find the weapon or any evidence. Mary, offered the Lamb to the detectives, because she knew they were hungry. I felt disgusted that she did that. She insisted, “Why don’t you eat up the Lamb in the oven.” “Please, she begged. “Personally, I couldn’t eat a thing, but it’d be a favor to me if you ate it up.” This story just shows us that anything and anyone is capable of doing such gruesome acts. Then, her impulse of a mad women impulse came, killing her husband with the frozen leg lamb. Her actions were not planned; they were more of an impulse. I was shock but at the same time I felt sorry for her, being pregnant and receiving the news that they are leaving you by the man that pledge love for the rest of your life. Hurting a pregnant woman, is the wrong thing to do, in the pregnancy women struggle with hormones, they can be balance or unbalanced at times. I don’t feel it was right for her to execute such a cold
