Different people have different ideas about what punishment is. In the story, “The Lady or the Tiger?” by Frank R. Stockton, the young man’s idea of punishment was way different than the king’s idea of punishment. In “The Lady or the Tiger?” the princess’ lover, the young man, had to choose which door to go through. He loved the princess, and the king thought that was a crime. There were two possible outcomes of the door method: marriage to the fair maiden, or death by tiger.
