Peter created fear in Ender by controlling the way he thought and acted at home and school. For example, Ender would be cautious of everything he would do at home in fear that Peter would punish him later, but would act tough and aggressive at school, where Peter was not around. In the beginning of the book, Peter nearly kills Ender while playing a game of buggers vs astronauts, suffocating him. “He lifted his foot, took a step, and then knelt on Ender, his knee pressing into Ender’s belly just below the breastbone. He put more and more of his weight on Ender. It became hard to breathe.” (Card O.S. Ender’s Game. pg 12. Tor. 1985. Print.)
