Throughout the story in the Most Dangerous Game there is two major inversions of roles. One example is The hunter become the hunted. In the story Rainsford the excellent hunter is stranded on a island and is found by General Zaroff. Later it is found out that The General invented a new kind a hunt. “I had to invent a new animal to hunt,” (31) The hunt for humans. It is soon figured out that the general wants to hunt Rainsford for sport. “But you can’t mean gasped rainsford.” (31) So Rainsford had to go along with it but as a experienced hunter he had skills to survive. “I suggest you wear moccasins; they leave a poorer trail.” …show more content…
In the end of the story General zaroff after failing to hunt down Rainsford decides to give up and go to bed but Rainsford has a different plan. “How in God’s name did you get here?” ‘’Swam,” Said Rainsford.” (40) Instead of being hunted Rainsford wanted to end the hunt forever so the next poor soul does not have to go through the same experience. “One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds.” (40) Meaning one of them will make the hounds dinner. “The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard, Rainsford….” (40) Who won? “He had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided”
