The Lady And The Tiger Analysis

The story is about a young prince that gets put in an arena because he is not a royal prince. He is not royal because he wants to marry the kings daughter. The king is very semi-barbaric and whatever he says goes; so he put the prince in the arena to either fight a tiger or marry the lady. One door he can open comes an angry tiger, and the other one comes a lady that he will be forced to marry and it proves he isn’t guilty. The story “The Lady and the Tiger” is written by Frank R Stockton, and shows that a jealous princess sends her prince to a door, and in my opinion she sends him to the tiger door. I think the door the prince opens awaits a hungry tiger. According to the author he is comparing how the princess and king are alike “she was the apple of his eye and loved him above all humanity”(page 14). The king and princess are alike so this leads to that she doesn’t care what happens to the prince as long as he isn’t with that lady. According to the author on page 17, “ the princess wasn’t wanting to come to see her fate of the prince”, but if he picked the door with the lady. I think the tiger comes out because the princess doesn’t want him to marry the lady behind the other door. The princess is very jealous and semi-barbaric and unloyal so she will sacrifice the princes life so she will be happy and the lady won’t have him. She shows signs throughout this story that she want’s the tiger to come out the door, and not the lady. So at the end of it all I believe the tiger comes out the tiger comes out the door, and demolish’s the prince and eats him.
