This distortion contributed to the toxicity of her leadership. Furthermore, Eliot (1934) states “The last temptation is the greatest treason: To do the right deed for the wrong reason” (p. 44). The Human Resources manager believed her actions to be the right choice, even though the benefit was to her alone secluded within the rational frame. Hampered by frustration and a feeling of defeat brought on by their toxic surroundings, the labor pool employees became dislocated from the organization. This upset became vibrantly apparent in their work performance. Upon my enlistment as leader of this group, I worked diligently to establish a positive rapport with them. I communicated my values and expectations and offered them positive guidance and professional respect. I looked for ways to build them up and empower them.
Palmer (1998) states: “An education for transformation would raise up professionals in every field who have ethical autonomy and the courage to act on it, who possess knowledge and skill and embody the highest values of their vocations.
