Later that day, just before five in the evening, there was a knock at the door of his home. The first thought that came to his mind was Randy. It couldn 't have been Hailey, he thought because she had cheer practice that day. It couldn 't have been his parents, he thought, because they were both at work and Liu, was at a friend 's house. Besides, other than Hailey, they each had a key to the house.

Leaving his bedroom, Jeff made his way into the kitchen and pulled out a drawer which contained his mother 's knives. He made his choice; didn 't really matter which one, as long as it could keep him safe if anything were to happen. He didn 't plan on using it, he just wanted to scare them away. "I am so sorry I didn 't warn you about him...I was worried he had done something to you."

Jeff made his way to the other side of the room. "You shouldn 't be here," he said, peeking through the small basement window. "He could be out there."

She took his hand in an attempt to calm him down. Looking through those pale blue eyes of hers, he 'd fallen in love with, she was able to do so. "We can 't let him scare us," she said. "He 's just one person."

Jeff laughed, but it wasn 't any laugh of joy, more like a laugh of fear. "That 's easy for you to say," he said. "He didn 't try to run you down with his car and he didn 't put a knife to your neck or threaten your life. Besides, he 's never just one person. That brother Rick of his and those other goons are always by his side."

Hailey took a seat on the sofa. "I need to tell you something, but you have to keep it a secret," she said. "You know how his father had been missing?" She asked and Jeff nodded. "Randy killed him," she said. "He killed his father."

Jeff was suddenly still, no longer peeking through the windows. "How do you know that?" He asked.
