One day, Emily and her mother went to the pet store. Emily saw on adorable kitten; it was all black except for a circle around her left eye, but Emily’s mom said no.
“But, Mom!” Emily whined. “I already named it! Jackie if it’s a girl. If it’s a boy I’ll name it—”
“No. How many times do I have to tell you no?”
How many times do I have to tell you to stop interrupting me? Emily thought. She looked at the kitten directly and Emily said very softly, “I’m sorry, little kitten, but I wish you the best of luck in getting a home.” Then, Emily had a tear in her eye, and it dripped down her cheek and onto the kitten’s nose. It made the kitten love Emily more and more each time Emily took a step.
“Come on now, Emily, we have to go home.”
