There is good and bad in everyone and everything. The composition of a what formulates the good and bad is subjective. However, the qualities that coalesce to form a bad person revolve around selfishness and immoral behavior. In addition, favorable traits that compose a good person include firmness in character and generosity. The novel by Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner, features the flowering of a young boy to adulthood and highlights Amir’s development of persona. Amir evolves to become a firm and generous adult from his selfish and immoral childhood actions.
Amir commenced with selfish intentions and immoral acts that corrupted his persona to be a bad person. To begin, Amir watched Hassan get raped for his personal gain to get his father’s

To start, Amir’s first step to the flowering of a confident man is prominent when he stands up to his father and decides to pursue his own passion in creative writing. Baba boasts, “Amir is going to be a great writer” (139). His ability to chose his own path is a contrast from following his father’s expectations as he takes firm and confident action. Also, Assef makes a reappearance when Amir goes to afghanistan. “Suddenly my cheeks were stinging and the guard was tossing my beard up and down with his hand, giggling” (276). The irony and occurrence highlight Amir’s strengths and realization of past sins. He is firm and not afraid of Assef contrary to his younger self. In addition, Amir offers to adopt Sohar to make up for the guilt he feels about treating Hassan. Amir tells Sohrab, “I won’t ever get tired of you” (324). And promises him to not allow his to go back to another orphanage. Amir comes to peace with himself and his past with an act of generosity. At last, Sohrab's journey to the United States was a challenge and Amir was willing to sacrifice and experience this change. Amir tells Sohrab, “for you, a thousand times over” (371). Amir concludes his journey of guilt with offering and coming through with accepting Sohrab into his family, which comes from his generous thoughts, actions, and intentions.
