Amir and Hassan were the best of friends, they had grown up together but with different ways of living. Amir's dad, Baba, was rich and had a servant names Ali which was Hassan's dad. The two boys grew up together only to teenage years. Amir would start feeling envy towards Hassan because Baba always looked at him as the son he never had. Amir was the shy and would never stand up for himself, Hassan was the exact opposite. After Amir won a Kite flying/fighting tournament Hassan ran towards the kite to catch it as a trophy for Amir. While running down the kite Hassan had ran into older boys of the same neighborhood and they too wanted the Kite. Amir betrayed Hassan by not helping him out with the other kids. Later on Amir feels regret fullness
