This event affects the way that Amir treats Hassan for the rest of his childhood. Amir thinks that if Hassan leaves, then he will receive all the attention he has ever wanted from Baba. This happens only for a little while, but Amir does little things that make Baba upset at him (asking for new servants, embarrassing himself in front of Assef at his birthday party). Amir starts to ignore Hassan and when Hassan wants to be read to by Amir says to leave him alone. Hassan is very confused about why Amir is acting this way. Hassan asks him what it is that he did wrong and Amir. Eventually when Amir asks Hassan to go with him to read in the pomegranate tree they used to always play in, Amir starts throwing pomegranates at Hassan saying “hit me back” but Hassan does not. Hassan does not hit him back because he recognises that he is the servant and because he is peaceful. Soon after the birthday party, Amir plants several of his gifts under Hassan’s mattress and frames him for stealing. When Hassan confesses that he did indeed steal them Baba forgives him, but Ali says that he is going to leave with Hassan. Baba weeps as he drives them to the train station and Amir watches from the window. This is something that many people do when they have done one or two things that have been in their heads as something that if they could go back and change they would do it. By the end of the novel Amir has demonstrated why good is stronger then hate and demonstrates why there is still hope for countries like Afghanistan. This was a very well written novel of redemption in a drama and will be read by many people as it has real historical truth in it and many important life lessons to be learned from it. Some of these life lessons are how to redeem yourself, and that you should always forgive even if it 's hard because it may be just as difficult for that other person that was in the conflict to fix. By the end of the novel when Amir has saved Sohrab and has created a better life for both of them the reader has a very deep sense of happiness because things turned out to be
