Elements Of A Good Parent In The Kite Runner By Khaled Hosseini

Differentiating between a good parent and a bad parent can be difficult. Maybe the good parent shows a tad more affection than the bad one. Perhaps the child is labeled a failure as the porous parent sulks in the astonishment. What are the factors that define a mother or father? Both more than likely will love the children they co-created. Having such a strong bond with something that is more or less pushed out of a body is a ritual that all fathers and mothers experience. He seemed to have a difficult time with going back on his most important rule: that of theft. He says "There is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft" (17). Going back on words can be difficult, but the reader really got an idea of how keeping some major facts away from those they might hurt may in fact be a good idea. Soon after Amir 's birthday, the young boy comes to the conclusion that he cannot have Hassan near him. The only logical explanation to him at the time was to get Hassan to leave. He tries to accomplish this task with the help of a watch given to him the night before. Amir slips into Hassan’s room and sneaks the prized piece of machinery under the young servants pillow. Soon after planting the watch Baba is notified of the so called "theft". Hassan owns up to the lie while Baba forgives the notion. Amir wonders to himself the true integrity of his father because of the fact that he goes against his word in these few short pages. A reader may begin to wonder why it was so difficult to parent a child that seems to have no similarities. Hosseini reassures all those who continue to scroll through each page that relationships periled with such hardships can bear incredibly important relationships. Ones that will be remembered by all. Opposites attract and even though it seemed like Amir and Baba were not the same, they still showed some of the same similarities that made their characters so great in the first place.
