Idea B is then repeated twice until :53. At 1:03 a piano enters the chorus, and then at 1:51 a flute enters and gives a lot softer of a feeling to the music. Once the flute entered the music picked up pace and the bass and drums weren’t as apparent. The mood and dynamics changed once

The undertones blend the piece to make it sound darker. It plays for a while but the the piece switches to the b section. The b section is a bit darker and not as light as the a section and that's how I defined the change in sections.…

On March 17th of 2016 I got to go see Loreena McKennitt performed at the Three Stages in Folsom, which turned out to be an incredible experience that I was not expecting. Growing up, my siblings and I would listen to Loreena McKennitt during the evening when we were going to bed, which helped to make the performance nostalgic. Loreena McKennitt is a Canadian celtic musician and all of her music has either a Middle Eastern story or a significant message to them. She is a lady of many talents which includes composing, singing, and playing the harp, accordion, and piano. Mckennitt is often compared to Enya who is an Irish singer songwriter, however McKennitt’s music is much more traditional.…

The song starts off with a strong collection with the brass section taking the lead as though one were about to embark on a long adventure. The song builds up as the adventure begins. Early on, the adventure is troubled by rough terrains, and eventually violins sound sparatically seeming to signify rough weather conditions. The weather clears and the brass section starts to signify progress as the adventure goes on. The violins once again gain speed as more troubles seem to come this way.…

The Menuets from Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major explores the tonality of G Major and what can be done to make it sound engaging, dance-like, and captivating. Both Menuet I and Menuet II function as individual movements, yet they contribute to and complement one another. Both explore different rhythmic patterns and tonal aspects, all the while staying and maintaining in the same realm of G Major. I will be talking about rhythm and how it drives the melody forward, shift of tonality and tonicization and how it materializes the movements, and cadences and pauses and how it balances characters from both Menuets.…

I observed, based on the rhythms and form of the piece, that this piece was intended for social dancing. I also recognized the word “Estampie” as a form of dance I once heard at a Cape Breton concert I attended. Therefore, I placed the accents and ornamentation carefully to allow for a clear articulation of the desired rhythm. At this point, I began enjoying the music and just playing it how it seemed to flow. I purposefully stopped analyzing and allowed the music to be what it was intended to be - an early form of entertainment meant for enjoyment.…

In the first listen, the expression of the singer, which seems acoustic in nature despite the background play bring out the message in the song. Based as a description of what used to mare the African American community, the song expresses the anguish especially in the tone of the song. The somber nature expressed in the lyrics of the song are in conjunction with the soft but squeaky musical instruments. The musical instruments in the first few seconds of the song are also catchy, with it taking twist from the opening tango melodies to the jazzy and blues musical arrangements.…

I think it is well known, and has a distinct section that repeats multiple times throughout the piece, which is very well known. The strings often build up with one another to create a type of tension and anticipation throughout the movement. The piece appears to be written in ABA form, thus the listener has a clear idea of where the piece is going while listening to it.…
