Chapter seven, “The King and Queen of Hell” thesis is the Salem witch trials of six people scheduled for August 5th. The six people brought to trial were George Burroughs, John Proctor, Old George Jacobs, John Willard, Elizabeth Proctor, and Martha Carrier. George Burroughs's was given the dignity of the title of king of hell joined by Martha Carrier being the queen of hell. Burroughs’s servant Mercy Lewis testified that Mr. Burroughs said he will give Mercy all of the kingdoms if she will write in his book. Another individual tried John Proctor had written to five Boston clergymen about the mistreatment and prejudgment he endured.
