The Killing Of Lennie In John Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men

I disagree with George killing Lennie, because Lennie didn’t mean to kill Curley's wife. Lennie only wanted to feel her hair, unfortunately, she overreacted and freaked out, which scared Lennie which caused him to accidentally kill her. All Lennie wanted to do was run away together with George.
Chapter one “Of Mice And Men,” it explains that when George and Lennie lived in Weed, Lennie wanted to feel a girls dress because it looked soft. When he went over to feel her red dress she became scared and started screaming. The girl in the red dress made it seem like he raped her, which George and Lennie had to flee out of Weed to get away from the people trying to kill them.
As a result, in chapter five “Of Mice And Men,” George had no right to

This caused him to get kicked out of his old town of weed. Because of his infatuation with soft objects he takes a peculiar interest in Curley's wife, because of this interest he unknowingly kills her causing more problems with Curley. As a result of killing Curley's wife George kills Lennie as an act of mercy killing. Mercy killing can be justified because if the person does not know what they did they are more likely to do it again, yet it cannot be justified because in the catholic religion there is an accent law that says "thou shall not kill."…

In “Of Mice and Men” Lennie should not have been killed because George basically helped Curley by killing him, he was only a kid, and he could have escaped. Lennie should not have been killed, he had the brain of a kid. “Sure he’s just like a kid, there ain’t no more harm in him than a kid neither” (Steinbeck # ). George could have taught him to be careful, it was not his fault he was mentally not smart. Another reason that George should not have been killed was he was basically helping Curley.…

George’s decision to shoot Lennie in the back of the head was a loving one that was for Lennie's own good. You see, Lennie did not know what he was doing when he snapped Curley's Wife's neck. The poor fellow did not even know his own strength. He was merely trying to silence Curley's Wife. The thing is, George was the only one who understood that, and anybody else would not have been as kind about killing him or locking him up.…

Lennie is a murderer but he doesn't meen to be that way . In the book “Of Mice And Men” by John Steinbeck there are 2 characters Lennie and George they are pretty much hobos during the great depression jumping from one job to another. The thing is they can't keep a job because Lennie keeps messing everything up for both of them. My claim is that Lennie is isolated from everyone in the book and that's what leads up to the important events of the book. An example of Lennie being isolated is when George yelled “ if I was alone I could live so easy.…

In the novella, Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, George’s decision to kill Lennie at the end of the novella was justified. In John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, George states, “I told his lady I’d take care of him” (Steinbeck 22). This shows George admits to promising to look after Lennie because Lennie is mentally slow, and unfortunately can’t make it in the real world without George’s guidance. Therefore, for George to betray both his promise and Lennie, where he could have helped Lennie escape. His decision was wrong, though killing is still justified.…

George the Culprit In Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, a scene occurs where Lennie, unintentionally, kills Curley’s wife. George is the most responsible for the death of Curley’s Wife because he is Lennie’s caretaker and has conditioned Lennie to hide his actions. As Lennie’s caretaker, George should be watching him vigilantly and stop him from doing anything harmful to anything or anyone. George is responsible for Lennie’s actions because, by leaving Lennie, he allowed for a series of events to occur that led to Curley’s Wife’s death.…

From the quotes, Curley was furious that his wife died and he knows that it was Lennie did this so he really wants to kill him by himself and shot him in the guts but George told him not to shoot him because he does not know what was he doing because Lennie was dumb. George should have killed Lennie in the story “Of Mice and Men” because from the story the character “Lennie” was a troublemaker for George. He always brought troubles to George and he also has some problems with his mind so that made him act like a kid, always do thing after George and if Lennie is still alive he might hurt more people, even though they were best friend and George should not have killed Lennie because of that but someone else will kill him…
