I believe that Marx’s concept on ‘Wage Labour’ is the amount of value received in the work that was carried out. The wage that is given to the worker is the amount of money that is paid by the capitalist who is the boss, who then gives that money to the labourers which are the workers. Marx explains the key concepts of a ‘Wage’ and he also compares the difference between the labourer and a capitalist. Wages are what the individual worker is paid for his or hers labour power. It is the capitalist’s money that is given to the labourer for the amount of work they carry out. Wage labour is known as the mode of production that the labourer can then sell their capacity to work as a functional commodity. Wage labour can be seen as a class of people that have no other means of living, and another class of individuals who own their own means of production that can be known as their own private property. The capitalist who goes on to buy labour power and pays for its value then go on to own that specific labour process. “Wages are the sum of money paid by the capitalist for a particular labour time or for a particular output of labour” (Marx, 1847). Marx portrays a labourer and a capitalist as two completely different people and rightfully so as a labourer is the person that puts in all the hard work and time to manufacture the specific products for the capitalist who is the one that sits back and receives all the money from the products that have been manufactured by his or hers labourers. The capitalist buys their own labour with their money. They then go on to sell their labour.
