One important theme of the article is that even in team sports or team activities, each individual is important to the outcome. In many cases it is one player that can make a change or a difference. Rosenblatt brought up the point that each player in a baseball game holds a job to either score a point or prevent a point. One player can hit a home run and get all the bases loaded to home plate. This one player’s great hit won the team a victory. This can relate to everyday life; at school and at work. One employee can step up and task a risk, which helps the business become a billionaire. According to the article it is important to work as a team, but it’s just as important to step up to the plate and take a risk. Another major theme that was brought up in “Reflections: Why We Play The Game” is that America distracts itself with sports. Families watch sports together and participate in them together to help create a bond. This causes people to not learn about each other or themselves.
