Judaism is a monotheistic religion that arose in the Middle East and is followed by about 2% of the world. According to Jewish scripture, Abraham, known as the father of the Jewish people, made a covenant, or a sacred agreement with God in which they agreed that Abraham and his descendants would follow God’s teachings, and in turn, God would love and care for them. The Torah is Judaism’s most sacred text, as it consists of the first five books of the Hebrew Bible and tells the story of Abraham and his descendants, the Israelites.
