The Sing and Dance Scenario contains at least two examples of conflicts of interest and several instances of illegal sexual harassment. The first conflict of interest is how Jackie and her manager at Sing and Dance Records were romantically involved prior to and after signing a contract with the record company. Even if Jackie was not using Curtis to make personal gains, it would appear that way to the company. Jackie should have disclosed her relationship to the company in the beginning as many companies require for this reason. The sexual advances made by Curtis toward Jackie after their relationship had ended are examples of illegal sexual harassment.…
High school gives the students the chance to engage with different sports and/or extracurricular activities, many of which are not classified as sports. Show Choir is a sport that many single out and classify as an extracurricular activity. Show Choir is a group activity which combine choral singing with dancing to tell a story. Various groups travel across the United States competing for trophies. The groups are ultimately looking to acquire a championship reputation.…
To quote Tyler Joseph, the singer and song-writer for Twenty One Pilots, “It’s music. It can change things. It can maybe make things make sense for moments at a time. It can make you feel like you’re not alone in what you’re going through, and give you a release.” Without music, I would definitely not be who I am today, and I believe that it has helped shaped me into the person I have…
“If I were Shannon Miller this would not happen,” I often thought as I positioned my body onto the bar. I hated heights and even being a few feet in the air on the highest uneven bar unsettled me. It seemed as if I were on the peak of a mountain top and my oxygen supply was thinning out. Each exhale made me dizzier and before you know it, I would be climbing down in a hurry, anxious to see my score even though I knew it would be low. I hated the fear I felt about practicing on the bars and how I believed that I would end up like my older teammate Chanel, who recently had surgery on both of her knees due to an awful fall in the last competition.…
I have always loved music. It started around nine years ago when I started playing piano. Piano was an instrument that my sisters and mom played and I was fascinated by the sounds that it could make and how you could make songs your own. Fourth grade I played violin but it wasn’t my thing because I could not find the thrill that the piano gives me when I play.…
One of the great things in today’s world is how many different ways one can express oneself. A few prime examples are writing, painting, debating, and music. I personally express myself is through playing my trombone and creating music. Whether it is in Marching Band, Symphonic Band, or the Church Orchestra I show the world how I feel, think, and believe.…
Coming out of fifth grade, I didn’t know what music really was. It just seemed like a bunch of guys playing a plethora of notes in my opinion. But once I joined middle school band, that all changed. Sometime during sixth grade, I had the sudden epiphany that I need to pursue music for as long as possible, because it felt special. It still does.…
Band has always played a huge role in my life. I remember when I joined in fourth grade. I wanted to play percussion, but fourth graders were not allowed, so I played violin (I had already played fiddle for a few years) for the rest of the year. The next year, I was super excited to be a percussionist and play the drums, and that is what I stuck with.…
Why I Sing Chaeley Winkler I cannot remember a time when I wasn’t singing. Of course, I know there was time before I could speak or burble as infants do, so there must have existed a certain silence before sound, however the mere thought of being so silent—unable to reach out with voice or touch—disturbs me to no end. But these thoughts of a time before sound hadn’t quite crossed my mind until I began to question the finer, tinier oddities in my life. These questions emerged at around the age of seven, before they had manifested as inner thoughts.…
Music to me is…a form of emotions, it is a way to express yourself. I do not listen to music very often. I normally only listen to music if I am in a car, in the gym or in the weight room. Sometimes if I am feeling down or a little bored I will listen to music before bed. When I went to Immanuel Lutheran School we started singing in kindergarten and we continued up until we graduated from the school in 8th grade.…
Music has been a strong part of my life and my goal for about four years now. I have been working hard towards it since the beginning, trying to get involved in it as much as possible. I started off with choir and because i looked up to my choral teacher so much it became clear to me that I wanted to become a music teacher. As time went by in highschool i felt more strongly about this and started working towards things that would help me towards that path.…
Even though it is possible for students to have outbreaks of temper tantrums, it should be noted that those using music therapy with students who have disabilities are fully qualified to help keep children safe and calm. These people are professionals and have been trained to help children who have temper tantrums. They are capable of calming these students down, and they help them return to a state of either pleasant or neutral feelings. The continuation of funding for these programs are important to students who are disabled. Music therapy helps them communicate when they are unable to use words.…

If I am in a situation that I know only God can see me through it, then I lend to Gospel. Most of the time when I am listening to music it is Gospel that I choose to listen to. However, when I am feeling depressed or upset about something I just turn on the radio and listen to whatever is being played or I might pop in a CD of my favorite artist. Music speaks to my emotions.…
