The dream of one day walking across the stage to receive her degree, and hearing her children give her praise seemed reachable.
At that moment, she made a promise to herself that regardless of her age. Her dream was going to become a reality. It was time to release the excuses. Going back to college, obtaining her degree was happening no matter what was required.

There is a saying that has helped me through the journey. “You want know what you can do, until you try. If you never try, then you will never know”.
Even though, Hines shares her difficulties faced. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Durentha has turned a negative into a positive. The outlook on her life gives a person hope that any goals can achieve. The mere fact, her goal close to becoming a reality says a great deal about her character.
Durentha Hines is now two classes away from achieve her goal. Although, classes needed are only offered in fall. Hines said, regardless I know the end is near. When I cross the stage there will be tears of joy. All the hard work late night studying, and emptiness will all disappear in that moment. I will no longer want a college degree; instead I will be a college graduate. To say college graduate would be awesome.
