The Jersey Devil: A Brief Analysis Of Greek Mythology

The guardian of the underworld, Cerberus is the three headed guard beast to the underworld, for all eternity he has kept the dead who passed the River Styx from escaping. Cerberus was the product of the the fearsome monster who stole Zeus’s reign, Typhon, and the mother of monsters, Echidna. His body layout was not entirely just a dog he also had the claws of a lion and the tail of a serpent. Often appearing myths Cerberus was known to be unmatched by any power that came to the underworld and only being defeated on few occasions, he was lulled to sleep by the music made from Orpheus, he was also overpowered by Hercules who was bare-handed as his twelfth labour. Some people choose to believe and rumour that Hades had released Cerberus who chose to live with the gods as “Naberius”, as an Immortal human. Jersey Devil has had many stories revolve around him, but he’s been the blame for many unexplained attacks and acts of terrorizing in New Jersey. One of the many stories surrounded the Jersey Devil is that his mother cursed her 13th pregnancy but gave birth to a boy who immediately turned into a demon and killed his entire family then flew away into the night. He’s often described as kangaroo-shaped with enormous bat wings and claws on his forearms with hoofs for his feet. Another myth tells that was born misshapen as punishment and his mother decided to hide her shame by sheltering him until he started flapping his arms transforming them into wings and flew out of the chimney, into the night.
