Rehabilitation for a person who brutally murders with no morals or respect for anyone else 's life? Criminals are criminals despite the circumstances. According to statistics, prisons are more equipped with the capacity of punishing criminals more than actually taking measures into rehabilitating them. According to the National Institute of Justice “within three years of release, about two-thirds (67.8 percent) of released prisoners were rearrested. Within five years of release, about three-quarters (76.6 percent) of released prisoners were rearrested. Of those prisoners who were rearrested, more than half (56.7 percent) were arrested by the end of the first year” .Why should society even consider rehabilitating the inmates if more than 3 quarters of them return to prison either way. According to the information provided from statistics, the rehabilitation method is thrown out of the equation. If simple felons can’t be rehabilitated, then it is common sense to assume that there is simply no rehabilitating a serial killer, or a homicidal maniac, or anyone that falls under the qualifications of receiving the death penalty.

The researcher, Michael Price conducted an experiment on a group of people that were put in scenarios where they felt is necessary for them to choose revenge as an initial option, and his claim was that "Virtually everybody was angry over what happened to them," Carlsmith says, "and everyone given the opportunity [for revenge] took it." therefore, under any circumstance a human being is naturally impulsified towards taking revenge or matter into their own hands. Once again, how does one expect to use common sense and feel revenge, if a person had just had a family member brutally murdered or even slaughtered, compared to a simple and lenient controlled
