Teenage pregnancy is a major problem in the United States as well as other developed countries. The problem, however, is more widespread in the U.S. than other industrialized nations. The U.S. experiences the highest number of teen births and parenting in the globe. The impact of this problem is quite far-reaching. The consequences of teen pregnancy include abortion, teenage parenting, and social, economic, medical, and educational difficulties for the victims. The problem does not affect the adolescent mothers and their children, but also the nation at large. It poses a significant economic constraint to the nation in terms of enormous welfare costs it incurs in caring for the children of the poor adolescent mothers. If not addressed in time, the issue of teenage pregnancy is going to cause more serious problems and adversely affect the economy of the country. Teenage pregnancy and parenting ruin lives of adolescent mothers and pose a great threat to teenagers, who rarely complete their education and face several life problems, including poverty and poor health; hence, the issue requires prompt intercession to rescue the teenagers and the country from it. This paper presents an annotated bibliography on the issue of teen pregnancy.
The article affirms the fact that the United States leads in teen pregnancy among the developed nations. It further reveals that minority communities in the U.S. have the highest cases of adolescent pregnancy in the country. The article features…
