Windward Research Paper

Windward Commons is the newest residence hall at Armstrong State University. Windward is a fairly nice institution with a relaxed feel for the students from the smiles of the people working behind the desk to the different “chill spots” for students to have entertainment or to just simply study. The vivid signs that cluster the walls inform the students about what’s going on throughout campus. The student’s personal dorm rooms are nice and spacious, whereas, most rooms are tiny and cramped. Windward is a great place for any student to live in especially college freshman because it has everything in that one building such as kitchens, and laundry rooms. However, Windward needs some minor adjustments to improve the living conditions for students. For example, to make Windward more like a home for students they should have a drain in front of the building, there needs to be a laundry room on each floor, and a trash shoot …show more content…
The walk from Windward to the dumpster seems miles away and walking with in one’s hand can make the walk even longer. Students do not take their trash out every day so eventually the trash begins to pile up. One reason students do not take trash out every day is because of the walk so they just wait until it is mandatory that they go. No one likes to touch trash because it is unsanitary. Sanitation is very essential in colleges because germs can spread quickly. So just imagine touching trash longer than usual. Students on the higher level floors have to carry trash out of their rooms, down the elevators, and after a good minute walk or so before they reach the dumpster. Not only that Windward and Compass Point share the same dumpsters so trash tends to overfill the dumpsters rapidly. As a result, some trash does not make it to the dumpster and gets left on the ground as litter which is bad for the environment. A simple trash shoot for Windward can fix that problem for students and the
