In the United States of America, Racism is a serious issue. This issue is serious, but there is a plausible explanation for its presence within our society. People believe that the government can fix these problems, the thing is the government cannot change these issues because no one can but the people, they need to change themselves. The government does not have the ability to help the so called racist average death, imprisonment, homelessness or employment between blacks and whites. There are a reasoning to why things seem racist. A scenario of something seeming racist in the United States of America is healthy. The average white person's life existence is 79, for a black person it would be 74. There is many reasons for the scenario. …show more content…
In the United States is thought that blacks end up in jail more than all the races. The truth is there is more white people in jail than blacks for 58.6 percent of whites are in jail. While 37.8 is blacks in jail. The information was found on a website called the federal Bureau of Prisons. This statement is easily thought to be explained to be racists. For the in United States of America the population that is black is 12.3 percent. The white population is 63.7 percent. The black and white population was found on a website called Infoplease and they found it on a source called U.S. Census Bureau: National Population Estimates; Decennial Census. Now if the majority of the population is white, then majority of the population in jail would most likely be white. Now the small percent of blacks in the nation and 37.8 is in jail, then of blacks majority are in jail. Thus creating the imprisonment of blacks are in jail. That final statement is false. For example the average amount of blacks and whites in jail is a 25 through 29 years old. In this age bracket there are four categories, black men without a high school diploma, white men without a high school diploma, all black men and all white men in jail. The average black man who did not get their high school diploma and ended up in jail was around 30 percent. The average white male not receiving a high school diploma ending up in jail was 6 percent. The average total …show more content…
With occupation, employment between blacks and whites it is true that whites have a higher chance to get a job than a black person. This information can be found on the website called the Atlantic. There can be a reason for this instead of saying it is racism. A reasoning for this could be because of the graduation of blacks and whites. Whites tend to graduate more than blacks. For 86 percent of whites graduate. While 69 percent of blacks graduate. The statistics can be found on a website called governing. The information is important to understand because the people hiring will end up hiring more white people than black people because the white population and has a much higher graduation rate. As well, it should be pointed out that the United States of America can not fix all these problems for some of these organizations are privately owned and are not funded by the government. While schools and police or any government job if that kind of problems occurs they should fix it. This information demonstrates that occupational employment is not racist and if so most likely the government cannot fix

For example, Lehna states that “Every 1 in 15 black men is incarcerated compared to 1 in 106 white men” (Lehna). The statistics are quite clear and reveal the dire situation of the black community. I in every 15 men in jail is startling. This means that 1 in every 15 families do not have a present father because the father is in jail. Racial disparities are very common in the United States criminal justice system for a long time. African-Americans are imprisoned in proportions six times higher than whites, and three percent of all African-American males are currently incarcerated in a state or federal prison. There are many causes that explain racial disparities in prison, including practices to combat drug trafficking. For example, whites and African-Americans commit drug offenses at comparable levels, but the rates of arrest, prosecution and imprisonment for these crimes are vastly different.…

Systemic Racism is a common trait in discrimination that affects a whole system, group, body, economy, market, or society. It is subtly composed of racist rules, behaviors, and ideas. Such behaviors have been shown through mass incarceration. It is stated that “black men have been admitted to prison on drug charges at rates twenty to fifty times greater than those of white men” (Alexander 7). Racial profiling plays a big part in mass incarceration because black men are suspected to have or use drugs more than white men based on their skin color.…

As you can see white people really don’t serve their full sentences, while black people are more likely to serve prison time. This shows that African-Americans are less valued by society because they are more likely to serve their full sentence compared to whites. But for some people they think white people serve longer sentences. Which isn’t true because “Black and Hispanic men are more likely to receive longer prison sentences than their white counterparts since the Supreme Court loosened federal sentencing rule “(Taylor). We can see that there was a rule that is loosened for white people.…

The logic as to why we do so is to ultimately attempt to figure out who we truly are as a human but, what we should be doing is trying to figure out what we would do now in this century. Currently, our generation is facing a crisis within the topic of racism. Many people such as the African Americans, Latinos, and Muslims want to call the U.S. they’re home but simply can’t. Racism has been around for many years and it is an issue that has never been fully resolved, although some may believe that it has. It is not uncommon to see crimes being mentioned everywhere but thanks to the media, we have seen the many incidents occurring recently involving white cops and black men, hence we have come to realize how racist we really are as a society and how big of an issue racism actually is even now. In the textbook Classical and Contemporary Sociological Theory, we are introduced to some of the first sociologists and their theories. Two sociologists that are relevant to present issues about racism would be Emile Durkheim and W.E.B. Du Bois.…
