Gun control is a heated topic in the United States and controversy over the topic is beginning to become a major issue for the current generation. The current president of the United States takes the side of pro gun control, but makes it clear that his position is based more on the safety of American lives and tries not to put his personal beliefs in the way. Since Obama was put into office for his first term in 2008, he has faced the topic of gun control more times than most presidents because it wasn’t until the last decade that it became a growing issue with not only politicians, but also parents and even some students. The New York times did an editorial on a speech that Obama gave on gun control pointing out the specific stance that he took. He also pushed Americans who agree with him to elect new lawmakers into congress to push his views on gun control and get laws put into place in his favor. The report on the speech may not have the most facts or logos, but it portrays more of the emotional side of his argument and its backed up with credibility to support Obamas stance. The pathos in the article supports Obama by pointing out that all the parents who agree with Obama should stand up and fight with his gun control policies.
