• What is the main purpose of more gun control laws? To decrease the number of deaths that happen every day, every week, and every year due to firearms.
 When you look at the statistics of this argument, the numbers are mind-blowing. o There were 464,033 total gun deaths between 1999 and 2013: 58 % was due to (270,237) suicide, 174,773 homicides (37.7%); and 9,983 unintentional deaths (2.2%). • Mass murder has been happening way too often in the US and one reason for that is how easy it is to get your hands on a military-grade firearm and accessories like high-capacity magazines. More gun control laws would prevent people from purchasing these types of guns and ammo. o The death rate rose from 63% to a whopping 156% when high-capacity magazines were used in mass shootings.
