We live in a society today where children are bullied for being who they are, the term gay is used as an insult, People can not use the bathroom that they want to, and kids are not even allowed to attend school functions such as school dances and things of that nature because of the gender that they identify with. And there are far more issues than just this within this topic. This is not just an American problem. This is worldwide and can be even worse in some countries in the world. This is not a topic that can just be ignored. Many LGBTQ youth say that they hear negative things said about being LGBTQ and the top sources are school, the internet and even their peers. Recently the supreme court made same-sex marriage legal throughout the United States. While this is a huge stepping stone towards equality, we are nowhere near where we should be.
Recently The Supreme court of the united states ruled in favor of marriage equality for same-sex couples. But this does not solve all the problems in the LGBTQ community.
