Michel Bay’s film, The Island, is unique in the sense that movies aren’t similar in any genre. The characters Lincoln six echo and Jordan two delta are considered average citizens living in a very controlled environment. They are told what to eat, what to drink, when to wake up, and what to do for a living. The hardest thing to believe is that they are not allowed to ask questions. The Island, directed by Michael Bay tells a story about two characters that dare to question the world around them. In the movie, The Island, a deadly disease contaminates the world and slowly crosses the earth. The disease is said to wipe out any living creature on the planet. However, in the middle of the movie the audience found out that the contamination was a myth. In fact, the contamination is just a reason to keep the people (clones) inside their controlled environment. The citizens are taught to believe that when exposed to the outside air, they will de contaminated and would die. ________, in the same sense they will be put to death if they stay. The citizens are kept alive in order to be a type of insurance policy for people living in the outside world. Right from birth, they are grown to be used to harvest organs or if need be, the clone’s body. Once the clones die, their organs and their bodies are harvested for the clients. He was able to keep the audience on the edge of their seats in every scene. He did particularly well in keeping the suspense throughout the movie. For example, when Lincoln six echo and Jordan two delta were escaping, Michael added suspenseful music to add to the drama. The dystopian theme is played up-tempo in order to show the horrifying world the clones would one day live in. In addition to that idea, it also leads us to question what makes a human being, truly human? Not only should a human be able to choose for him/herself, they should be able to question the world around
