Primary Sources Of Islam Essay

Introduction The discourse is about the analyses of three primary sources The Voices of Islam and what the sources reveal about the Islamic Society in the Ancient World. The first primary source 'The Quran Seventh Century C.E. ', is a book that has the word of God 'Allah, ' which contain revelations provided by the messenger of Allah, the Prophet Muhammad. According to Strayer, the revelations were recorded in the Quran, becoming the sacred text in the Islam community and the core of their faith. In which being part of the community was for the best, and women were honored and equal to men. The second primary sources is 'The Hadiths, 8th and 9th C.E. ', are various collections of traditions and actions that Prophet Muhammad supposedly practice and did while he was alive according to multiple witnesses. The Hadiths came in second of importance 's after the Quran and served as a guide and inspiration to the Muslim community. The Hadiths are a selection of a variety of stories of Muhammad social life, in which a Persian scholar, al-Bukhari (810-870 C.E.), helped collect and authenticate the stories, which became The Hadiths between 8th and 9th C.E. In the Quran, the document reveals that men and women were equal and even in the in the text 'The Quran ' states that men should treat women with kindness and equality. In the Hadiths reveals that women were seen as a second-class citizen or even worst because the Prophet Muhammad states that women being inhabitants of hell, and the only reason that men should treat women kindly is cause they were created from a rib. In the Sharia, the document reveals that women had no laws that gave them any rights or protected them. The three documents show the changing treatment of women and the role of women in society between the 7th to the 9th
