Principals are more likely to cause conflict if they start venturing away from who they truly are as leaders. Souers and Hall (2016) describe this as “cement shoes” (pg. 45). Creating a vision not only for the school, but for yourself helps you keep on track as to what type of leader you want to be. If principals have a solid vision, it will be much harder to compromise themselves and their beliefs. Creating Professional Development that is beneficial for the staff is crucial in not only keeping them engaged, but excited about these learning opportunities. This is one reason why I went back to school to get my master’s. Learning new things makes me excited and it is making me a better teacher for it. I chose educational leadership because I want to lead others to become the best they can be. Keeping learning upbeat and rewarding helps those staff members become more involved in not only their learning, but the success of the
