Animals feel pain and they suffer while being tested on, and it is not right for us to imprison and abuse them. Animal researching should be outlawed in the United States because there are other alternatives, it is unethical, and does not always provides a reliable result.
What many people do not realize is that various alternatives to animal testing exist and it is not a necessity to tests on them. Rather than exposing animals to painful tests- other means of experimentation, as well as food, cosmetic, and drug testing are an option. Things such as human-patient simulators, computer modeling, and human research volunteers can easily take the place of animals ("Alternatives to Animal Testing" PETA). These alternatives are relevant to human health, unlike animal testing. Human-patient simulators actually respond like the human body would. They bleed, breathe, convulse, and even “die”. It is scary how real these simulators are. Computer modeling has been proven to predict how drugs will affect the human body and human volunteers, as well as accurately portraying how drugs and …show more content…
That is sad, especially once you realize that animal testing is as PETA put it, “ bad science”. Animal testing does not accurately portray how chemicals, foods, or drugs will affect our bodies. It is a waste of time, money, resources, and lives because it does not provide accurate information. PETA has stated in the past that, “The Food and Drug Administration reports that 92 out of every 100 drugs that pass animal tests fail in humans” ("Top Five Reasons to Stop Animal Testing." PETA). Also, “Experimentation using animals persists not because it’s the best science but because of archaic habits, resistance to change, and a lack of outreach and education” ("Animal Testing Is Bad Science: Point/Counterpoint" PETA). Scientists are starting to realize that animals are very rarely a suitable model for the human body and the tests almost never actually provide a good prediction for whether or not something is safe for human use. People are not aware of this and that is why animal testing continues. Some may argue that animal experimentation has been done for a while and it seems to be working. Just because something has been done for a while, it does not mean that it is the best way of doing something. Archaic methods are often not the best. Since the start of them, our science and understanding of things have evolved. If we keep doing things the way they have
