One of the natural resources that the Iroquois were the turtles. The Iroquois used the turtle's back as some sort of calendar. With its pattern of thirteen large scales standing for the thirteen moons in each year, and twenty eight smaller scales standing for the twenty eight days between each new moon. This reminds them that all things are connected and that they must try to live in balance. The Iroquois doesn't just one animal, they use all. they use most animals for clothing. One of the ceremonial objects used for special events is called Husk Face or "bushy head". The masks are made by women from braided dried cornhusks. They also used turtle shells, feathers and horns. ( examples from document 3: turtle shell rattle used in the false-face ceremony, five-feathered fan used in the eagle dance, horn rattle used in the eagle dance and burl drum filled with water used in the eagle dance ). The Iroquois used wood for ceremonial objects, but they used wood for transportation. They used the wood from the trees to make canoes, snowshoes and sleds. The canoes were used for to travel on water and to transport their food. Snowshoes were used for traveling on top of the snow instead of sinking in it. The sled was also used for the same thing as the snowshoes and the canoes.
Another item ( or items ) used by the Iroquois were fish hooks, spoons and a scraper. The fish hooks were obviously used for fishing. The Iroquois were mostly ate salmon than other fishes, just like the other Native Americans.The spoons were used for, well eating of course or getting the insides of an animal the Iroquois have skinned.
