The Iraq Body Count project was founded in 2003 by volunteers from the United Kingdom and the United States. The volunteers felt an obligation to ensure that the innocent civilians who were killed weren’t forgotten. The IBC team consists of journalist and media support workers from around the world. The media workers are out in the dangerous and heavy armed streets of Iraq risking their lives daily to report the wars catastrophes. The article in which most of the information comes from discusses how Isis spread across Iraq and Syria, and most importantly for this paper the cost of the actions of Isis on civilian lives.

In Iraq, there is poverty, low levels of education and technology and very few women’s rights. There are some areas that have been entirely destroyed and cut off from basic needs such as food supply. These areas are now depending fully on aid and the black market resources. There are more than 4.8 million Syrian refugees who have had to leave their homes in fear of being killed. The Hegemon worldly known is the United States. Ever since the beginning of the war after 9/11 the relationship between Iraq and the US has gotten worse. The people caught in the crossfire of this disagreement and unresolved problem are the civilians of the developing countries. During the final debate on Wednesday, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton stated “I think a no-fly zone could save lives and hasten the end of the conflict. This would take a lot of negotiation and it would also take making it clear to the Syrians and Russians that our purpose is to provide safe zones on the ground.” I agree with this statement, having no fly zones could save thousands of lives. When the strikes occur, they know about the people in the proximity of which they are bombing, but they aren’t worried about the innocent only the presumed guilty. Experts are stating that “Iraqi civilians will die and the U.S. must get used to it.” This phrase is simply something one would not expect to read. They are stating that it’s not a problem
