The Apple iPhone was first announced in January of 2007, and released in June of that same year. The first iPhone worked specifically with AT&T network and was a drastic change from the stylus style system that most phones due to being the first phone to use a touch screen. The first iPhone was the beginning of a revolution that lead to the smartphones we currently favor. The iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, 5, 5C, 5S, 6, 6S, 6+, 6+s, 7, and 7+ were soon to follow with a new update to the iPhone each year. There are two brands that currently rule the smartphone market: the Apple iPhones, and Samsung Android phones. The two brands make up a majority of the cellphone market and both have a very dedicated consumer base. Samsung is currently leading the worldwide market with 22.5% of smartphone sales to users by vendors, whereas Apple came in at 15.9%. The margin is smaller within the United States market with Samsung leading at 28.8% and iPhone following closely behind with 23% even. IPhones have multiple benefits that Androids haven’t quite mastered. The first benefit of the iPhone is that it’s user friendly, and consistent amongst each update. Second, app exclusivity is high with iPhones. Although Samsungs Androids have apps themselves, there is a portion of apps that are exclusive to the iPhone and unavailable for Android users.
