It sent important news quickly and improved the economy. Although it improved society, the telegraph led owners of businesses based around telegraphs expand their businesses. This was to the point that they were run by factories causing poor conditions and higher pollution.

During the Industrial Revolution a number of factories began to open and operate. In this same period of time there was a boost in the population.
