The Importance Of Human Life

The invention of the camera revolutionized capturing memories. Because it incorporated cost-effectiveness and portability, taking images could happen anywhere at a moment’s notice. Since older methods of reproducing portraits manufactured less than ideal results, the camera rapidly replaced them. Most importantly, it allowed future generations to gaze back into their family’s past as if they had resided alongside them. Similarly with care, God created mankind in His image. Today, evolution attacks this representation of humanity’s uniqueness. Its proponents propose man developed from a lower life form like an ape over billions of years. On the other hand, God promoted animal sacrifice throughout the Old Testament, but He condemned applying this same practice to humans. For instance, the Lord commanded the Israelites, ‘“There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire …”’ (Deuteronomy 18:10). This leads us to believe God placed a higher value on human life, and today people still maintain this same conviction. This explains the death penalty for murder and non-existent repercussions for slaughtering livestock. If man and animals truly had equal value, hunting should have been prohibited after the naissance of evolution, and we should resort to a strictly vegetarian diet. Additionally, man’s capacity to reason separates us from the rest of creation and supports our likeness to God. In His infinite wisdom and power, the Lord created our universe. This occurred at the beginning of the Bible as it said, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). In the same fashion, God put within the human mind the innate ability to make groundbreaking discoveries. Over the course of history, man’s reasoning has created mind blowing inventions, and we have even learned how to go to the moon and back. Conversely, an animal has never changed society in this way. If we just evolved from something with entirely physical properties, it would not make logical sense that our ability to reason just randomly came into existence. An immaterial attribute like a mind cannot result from a solely material being’s evolution. Thus, a person’s mind exemplifies a difference with creation and a similarity to God. Ultimately, because the worth of humans and their capacity to reason drastically exceed an animal’s, it strongly suggests that we are more than a highly evolved
