Personal Narrative: My Interview With The Police Department

Improved Essays
The morning of March 17, 2015 I was finally given the opportunity that I have been waiting for my whole life. My goal was to make it to the interview process with the Police Department. Sitting in a cold drafty waiting area, dressed in a suit sitting still and proper, I was waitng for my moment, THE moment I have longed for. So much ran through my head. Who will the panel of interviewers be? What will they ask? Do I defend myself as a female trying to work a man’s job? Then I kept going over the key responses that I think they would ask. A half hour goes by and a gentleman comes walking towards me. I stand up to shake his hand. He says “I’m sorry Ma’am but they are running behind in schedule. Sit tight, it may be awhile.” “Thank you.” I said, and sat back down. My …show more content…
As we started our family, once we had our second child we thought it would be wise for me to stay home and care for the children rather than sending them to daycare. It took a lot for me to give up that perfect job but I knew my family came first and my children needed me home with them. Throughout our marriage there were many challenges we faced since my husband suffered with PTSD. He served in the Army. During his service time he did a tour in Afghanistan and another in Iraq which took a toll on him. Time was tough after that for him but he still tried his best to reach his goals until one day he decided to give up and took his own life. Our relationship taught me so much about life and how to survive no matter what came my way. Some days being with him I had to fight for my own life others we shared some of my happiest times. I do remember one day mentioning to him that I wanted to pursue a career being a police officer once the kids are at a certain age. His response “Why can’t you go out and get a woman’s job.” Once again I just smile and in my head thanked

Introduction My last semester at Middle Georgia State University as an undergraduate student was filled with a wonderful opportunity to intern with the Bibb County Sheriff Department. My internship experienced was supervised under the leadership of Cindy Gresham, the executive assistant of the agency. Historically, social control in Bibb County was maintained by two separate entities, the Bibb County Sheriff Department and the former Macon Police Department. There were multiple attempts to consolidate the two agencies in efforts to decrease the amount of tax payer dollars allocated to public service and to increase the effectiveness and efficiently of their service performance.…

I met victim Brandon Stoops, Mr. Stoops stated he was walking west in an alley just south of the above location, when he saw a microwave positioned close to 320 Whitehorne Ave side fence. As I mentioned in the previous assignment, I want to increase my baseline 500 steps each week so that by the end of the semester I am recording 10,000 steps which is in the active range. I will continue walking around the property at work and stepping in place whenever I possibly can. I will stick to walking to the mailbox which is two blocks from home as opposed to driving up to it on my way home. If I have days where I am tired I will just give myself another pep talk. I have a pretty good support system thus far so I will lean on them if pushing myself on my own does not cut it.…

Despite what I may have felt about the officers’ sincerities, Officer Maydane and I were similar in many respects. These similarities, I believe, established the foundation for a lively discussion. What broke the ice between Officer Maydane and I was the fact that he formally resided in the current neighborhood I am living in now. For a few minutes, we talked about how the neighborhood used to be, it’s present condition, and future prospects for playgrounds and a basketball court. Another similarity between us is that I will apply to Fairfax County Police Department at 23 years old, the same age he applied to the department.…

Today I interviewed a man by the name of Johnny Christian. He just recently earned the title of Bryan County Sheriff so I knew he had to be full of good ideas. I started by asking him all the questions in the list in order and then a couple of my own. I learned that he has been friends with my dad since they were kids and also grew up in the same town I live in now. He went to the same high school as me and had no intentions of becoming a police officer as a college student.…

I agree the Border Patrol is placed properly within the Department of Homeland Security. When I lived and worked in Southern California, there were many times that the Border Patrol would take suspected people into custody and detain them. From my own personal knowledge of living out west, the Border Security between Arizona and Mexico has been heightened in recent years due to the Coyotes’ smuggling of illegal immigrants and Drugs. There have been several underground tunnels located and many people apprehended. The work the Border Patrol does is an incredible asset for our nation.…

I have a confession to make, I enjoy the practice of Criminal Defense. As a criminal defense attorney, I represent those charged with a crime, whether it's traffic, DWI/DUI, misdemeanor or felony. As per the explanation I have heard from many people, I defend the 'scum of the earth.' Since deciding this was my area of practice as an attorney, I have heard from friends, family and even total strangers that my chosen profession is 'wrong,' 'despicable,' I've even been told what I do is "what's wrong with America. " I try to have a legitimate discussion with these individuals to explain my decision to practice criminal defense.…

Law Enforcement Interview Police officers are seen under the radar in everyday life. By under the radar I mean, we notice them driving around town, or when we are slamming on our brakes passing them going twenty miles over the speed limit on the interstate, or when we all pretend to be perfect drivers when we notice them trailing us from our rear view mirrors. What we don’t notice is who the police officer that’s giving us a ticket is, or what their ranking is or how well trained or educated they are. Police officers are easily disliked by the public because of their jobs of handing out tickets, or making necessary arrests but all they’re trying to do is keep the community safe.…
