Billy and Nick’s previous job sends them out on a sales meeting without having let them know prior to the meeting that they have been cut off from the business, this is an autocratic style of management as he did not inform them of the retrenchment, instead he took the decision himself and let them know about it later. A democratic leadership style is shown when the Google team (Lyle, Dana and Mr Chetty) hires the interns in scene 5, Lyle’s opinion in regards to hiring Billy and Nick is voiced and heard by the rest of the members and then a decision was reached having taken his opinion into consideration. During the first challenge, in scene 12, a laissez-faire management style is depicted as the team manager Lyle allowed the team members to embark on their own tasks without his involvement. During the second challenge (scene 16) transformational management style is present as Billy and Nick help the team members reach their potential while still reaching their aim as a team by embarking on a night out where the team lets loose as a way to find motivation and through this come up with the winning application (Levy, …show more content…
However, the conflict was resolved through avoidance during the match after they realized they were losing so that they could have a much better attempt at winning, it was also resolved through clearer communication skills when Bill was communicating their goal through a story narrative during halftime during the match in this scene. During the second challenge (scene 16) he team experiences functional conflict as they argue about new app ideas, it stimulated creativity and led to the application they had designed being the most downloaded. Inner conflict is depicted from the beginning of the intern programme to the last challenge in Billy and Nick’s characters. They constantly think they are inferior to all the other interns, however, they deal with their internal conflict by using their emotional intelligence to deal with it and rather being productive with the team and learning new skills (Levy,

Anyone who is entering into the workplace is required to be enrolled in a training exercise course to develop their skills on a job. The skills needed are taught or learned through experience hence why, having the opportunity to intern is a privilege; yes, everyone will have not the same experience but it will allow the intern to adapt to their new working environment and gain merely through hands on experience (Sweitzer & King, 2013). The intern’s role varies but inveterately their role in any company is to laisse with supervisor and other interns and staffs to fulfill the required task. Intern Nation by author Ross Perlin analyzes the current state of internships in astoundingly immensedetail. In specific, Perlin focuses on the variety of internships, including “the good, the bad, and the ugly; the paid and the unpaid; the ostensibly academic and the completely untethered; part-time internships lasting a few weeks and full-time ones last a year” (XVI). These elements are described through first-hand accounts; for example, the interns at Disney World and the government interns on Capitol Hills. These elements are also described through in-depth investigation; for example, the 18 percent of interns who work without pay or the evidence of companies and government organizations firing full-time paid staff and replacing them with…

As part of my leadership course at Grand Canyon University I was assigned to volunteer/internship in an experience that would enrich my future career. I was very fortunate to work out an agreement with the Director of Security and Safety at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona and the home of the NHL Arizona Coyotes. My current career has me working at the University of Phoenix Stadium over seeing responsibilities in security and guest services. By volunteering to work at an NHL arena, I felt it would give me insight on how other professional sporting facilities operate with the belief I would gain some experience and takeaways that would become better at my current job and possibly expose me to a bigger world within the sports/entertainment industry. During my time working at the arena I kept journal entries of each of the games that I worked at and used those documents to help reflect on what knowledge I have gained and how my Grand Canyon University experience enhanced my volunteer involvement.…

I have done my fall internship at the same school but during the day. I feel that there is a lot I can do to support the students both academically and emotionally. During the first meeting with the counselor she expressed that being bilingual and bi-cultural will help. I know that there are not many opportunities to talk or have sessions with students, since they don’t have elective classes where I can see them, but I will try my best to be flexible with their schedules. I found out that they have a student government association, so I will try to be involved in their activities,…

An internship is normally a work task a student completes after a series of classes to gain a degree in a particular field they think they’ll love, whether they still love it after they’ve completed that journey is based upon a multitude of criteria. Luckily, I have found that I quite enjoy fashion and working in retail throughout this internship at Dress Barn. Occasionally students find that what they thought they were getting into, is actually completely different than what they expected. Especially when reading about a profession on paper versus seeing it up closer in real life. When I started college, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study or achieve with my life.…

During my internship experience, I learned a lot of things that I thought I knew but are misconstrued on. With that being said, I know everything must be done in decent order or this will cause chaos and lead to confusion. I also learned everything takes patience and is very time- consuming. I became frustrated, so many times and just wanted to give up, but I had to remind myself that hard times are going to come and everything is going to work out. Many times I sat on my bed crying because it seems like everything piled on me at one time.…

One of their tasks required the interns to decode a program and find the bug. This involved a lot of working and Billy and Nick were hampering their progress, so as a quick strategy they sent them to go look for someone that doesn't exist. This was very unethical but it did help improve their progress. There are many other problem solving techniques that could have been used however time was an issue, so they had to implement this quick, on the spot strategy. Being tasked to create an app was another example of how creativity is important.…

The importance of an internship experience cannot be overstated. Today, employers favor prospective employees who have done not only one internship but multiple internships. A college education will serve to propel a graduate into a profession by conferring a degree, which demonstrates an academic proficiency in various theoretical and practical examples of ways that a job might be performed. An internship makes the classroom’s abstract theories and learned examples concrete by placing the student in a real life work situation with real live co-workers performing actual professional tasks, which the job encompasses. Therefore, the payoff of an unpaid internship is that you will gain invaluable professional experience, where you might…
